Rated 5 out of 5 by from I love, love, love this pan! The pan is beautiful! I can use it for so many things and I like being able to look through the glass cover. I bought it originally to poach eggs but I love that I can use it for other things. I have a poacher that keeps an egg out of water but that is not a real poacher. Poaching eggs is to cook them in water! The little poaching cups work very well, I put a small amount of avocado oil in them to start. A small amount of egg white does slip through the cup holes when I forget to add a little white vinegar but that does not bother me at all. When cooked, the white is nice and the yolks are yummy. Everything is easy to clean. I rinse with hot water and then wash with soap and water. The cover is not meant to be used with the egg cups! The cover is great when the pan is used for other things including eggs sunny side up. The pan is so beautiful that I keep it always on top of the stove.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Reall bad design I agree with the other negative comments. Super poor design. Pan comes with a lid that does not work when you have the baskets in the water - as the basket handles are too big. The holes in the basket are too large so the egg whites leak out. Seriously, did the people who designed this ever use it? We paid a lot so I feel bad tossing it, but its so bad we went back to our old poacher

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Generally good My husband bought this for me a couple of years ago when I mentioned a solution for egg poaching would be nice. I wasn't very happy with this particular choice for the following reasons. The holes in the baskets are too large and some of the eggs do exude from them. I also didn't need a non-stick pan to go with it as I could have used one of my high end stainless pans with the poaching cups. Calphalon has a poaching insert that keeps the eggs out of the water, I would have preferred that to these submersible ones. Since I was stuck with the pan, I've used it often since I do like the non-stick coating. It's pretty durable and I've certainly not been gentle with it. I do find, from frying, that there can be a buildup of crust and I need to use harsher abrasives to remove it. So far it has withstood the harsh green side of the yellow Scotchbrite and steel wool. The non-stick surface is pretty scratched up now and has a couple of very, very small divots where the non-stick is missing. Given all that, although I have never used the pan for cooking things like omelettes, the abused non-stick is still good to go. Now, to get to the chase about why I have given this product 3 stars. Along with the leaking egg cups, I absolutely HATE the fact that this pan has no long handle. I have a Wolf gas stove and I have to use a potholder in order to use this pan for frying. I can't tell you how many times I've had my potholders start to catch on fire because holding the pan by one of the very short handle leaves them too close to the burner flame. It happens with potholders and mitts. I've often felt like throwing the pan again the wall, I was so frustrated. My ill feelings about this pan has probably led to me abusing the pan via cleaning because I'm actually rooting for this pan to fail prematurely so I have an excuse to throw it out. Yes, I could use a 3rd party removable pan handle but I shouldn't have to considering Calphalon isn't a cheapo manufacturer.
