Stewed Fruits

Ingredient Description:
1 1/2 c. white grape juice
1 c. dried apricots
1 c. dried split figs
1 cinnamon stick
5 whole cloves
1/4 vanilla bean
1 tsp. orange zest
3 1/2 oz. dried cherries
2 pears, peeled, cored, sliced thin
1 pound cake
1 c. plain or vanilla yogurt for garnish

  1. Pour white grape juice into a 3.5-qt. sauce pan.  Add apricots, figs, cinnamon, cloves, vanilla bean and orange zest.  Simmer for 15 minutes. 
  2. Add cherries and pears.  Simmer an additional 15 minutes.  Remove vanilla bean, cloves and cinnamon stick.
  3. Serve warm fruit over pound cake.  If serving without pound cake, double recipe, extending the cooking time only 5 minutes during each cooking period.
