1/2 bottle red wine
1/2 c. fresh orange juice
2 limes, juiced
1/2 c. simple syrup (1/2 c. sugar and 1/2 c. water, dissolved and brought to boil in 2.5-qt. sauce pan and then chilled)
1/4 c. orange liqueur
1 c. club soda
2 oranges cut in half and hollowed out for cups
fresh mint for garnish
Mix all ingredients together and pour into a 9x13-in. rectangular cake pan. Place into the freezer and scrape the top with a fork every 30 minutes until the granita sets up and is firm.
Scoop granita into the orange cups, garnish with fresh mint and serve.
