The Calphalon Tri-Ply Stainless Steel 5-qt. Saute Pan with cover features three-layer construction with an aluminum core for even, consistent heating.



Classically styled with a polished stainless steel exterior and a satin finished interior, the Calphalon Tri-Ply Stainless Steel 5-qt. Saute Pan is designed with three layers to ensure even, consistent heating. A heavy-gauge aluminum core surrounded by stainless steel provides excellent heat conduction for browning and searing, while giving you enhanced control of the cooking process. These stainless steel pans have wide, flat cooking surfaces and are ideal for searing and sauteing meats, fish and poultry. Low sides allow air to circulate so that foods remain crisp, yet are tall enough to contain liquids and prevent splattering. Includes tempered glass cover.

Use & Care

  • Oven Safe: Oven & broiler safe
  • Recommended Stove Tops: Gas, Electric, Electric Rings, Halogen, Glass Top, Induction
  • Utensils: Nylon, Coated, Wood or Metal

Dishwasher safe. However, we recommend hand washing to preserve the luster of the stainless steel. Hand wash using a liquid dishwashing detergent such as Dawn® and a non-abrasive sponge or soft bristle brush. Use Cascade® for automatic dishwashers. To restore the shine to the stainless steel, you may also use Bar Keeper’s Friend® cleanser (or other polish made especially for stainless steel) and a non-abrasive sponge or soft-bristle brush.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Workhorse plan I picked this pan up and have put it through the wringer. I made stuffed chicken breast which I seared both sides on the stove top. Then I placed this pan in the oven at 375 degrees for 10-12 minutes. Then I removed the chicken and returned it to the stove top to make a pan sauce. I have done this several times now and have been very happy with the result. No warping and cleanup was very easy. Although I know it is dishwasher safe, I prefer to hand wash since cleanup is so easy. Also, I want it to never lose it's shine. People comment that it looks like I don't use my stainless steel Calphalon cookware since they look brand new. Trust me, I definitely give them a workout. As an amateur cook I'll declare they probably get more abuse since I don't know what I'm doing. Everything I cook now turns out better and much more consistent due to the pan maintaining an even heat which allows you to cook at a lower heat than cheaper pans. I use dishwashing liquid initially, then use bar keepers friend for the shine. Then I dry and buff lightly with a paper towel.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great for searing! I had this as part of a large I purchased several years ago and it was used repeatedly for searing steaks and seafood. Sear the steaks, pop in the oven, pull out steak to rest, and sear your seafood. That easy. I'll be buying this again as it's large enough to do two t-bones simultaneously and it's great to cook whatever else you wish; also found it to be a great pan to cook meatballs and sauce in (easy to deglaze). I'm hoping the warping issue may be as simple as a bad batch of the alloy used in making some of stainless versus a design flaw.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Sauté Pan! Not as quick to heat as say the other leading brand, however. Does a great job of browning meats and otherwise delivering even, consistent heat.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great for stir fry I have had this big sauté pan for a few years now. I didn't use it much when I first got it, but my family has grown and it's great for making a nice big meal! I have had no issues or troubles at all with this pan. Sometimes, it's a bit heavy to lift a pan full of food by the handle, so I use oven gloves and lift with both handles and that works fine. We cook veggies in it, potato hash, stir fry, meats, and it all works great.
