Gruyere & Prosciutto Panini

The perfect panini has a crisp, golden brown exterior and warm, melted interior. For best results, do not overstuff the bread, and use medium, not high, heat when cooking.

2 slices good quality bread
2-4 slices Gruyere cheese
2-3 slices tomato
1-2 slices prosciutto, thin
4-5 fresh basil leaves
olive oil


​Preheat a Calphalon Panini pan on medium heat for 3 - 4 minutes.  

While the Panini pan is heating, lightly brush 1 side of 1 slice of bread with olive oil.  Place the slice of bread oil side down on your work surface.  Layer the ingredients on the bread, beginning and ending with the cheese and topping with the second slice of bread.  Brush the top of the second bread slice lightly with the oil.  Place the Panini in the preheated pan.  Place the weight on the Panini and grill for 3 - 4 minutes or until it has turned golden brown.  Turn the Panini over and grill the other side until golden brown and center of Panini is warm and melted.
