Chocolate Frosting

Made from scratch and simple to do.  The result is a rich chocolate frosting that can also be used for filling or piping.  Delicious on your cookies, cakes and cupcakes.  Put leftovers between graham crackers and freeze in a plastic bag for a snack later!

1/2 c. unsalted butter

1/4 c. milk

1 tsp. pure vanilla extract

1/4 c. Dutch-process cocoa powder

3 1/2 c. confectioners’ sugar


In a heavy saucepan, combine butter, milk, vanilla and cocoa powder; heat over medium heat, stirring continuously, until the mixture is smooth.

Remove pan from the heat.  Whisk in the confectioners sugar, 1/2-c. at a time, mixing until smooth after each addition.
