Preheat oven to 400°F.
Grease a 6-cup muffin pan with shortening. In a large mixing bowl, sift together flour, baking powder and salt.
In a separate bowl, combine egg, cream, 1/3 cup sugar, melted butter and vanilla.
Pour the wet ingredients in the dry ingredients and mix until just combined. Gently fold in the blueberries. Divide the batter equally among the muffin cups and bake for 12-15 minutes.
Remove from the oven and cool on a wire rack for a few minutes before removing the muffins from the pan.
