Retains Heat Longer and More Efficiently Than Traditional Aluminum Cookware

ATLANTA (Oct. 10, 2012) — Calphalon®, the leader in premium cookware and kitchenware, announces the launch of Simply Calphalon Enamel Cast Iron, a beautiful collection of cookware that evenly distributes and steadily radiates heat for tender and flavorful cooking results.

Simply Calphalon Enamel Cast Iron cookware retains heat longer and more efficiently than traditional aluminum cookware because it’s made from high quality, heavy weight cast iron. This makes it ideal for slow-cooking foods such as short ribs, pot roast, stews or hearty chilis.

“Cast iron lets you achieve delicious cooking results,” said Dave Lew, Senior Brand Manager for Calphalon. “You can start a favorite recipe on the stovetop, and then put it in the oven to finish. The heavy weight cast iron holds in the heat, which makes it perfect for slow simmering and braising. Enamel Cast Iron cookware can even go from the oven to the table to keep foods warm for serving.”

In addition to its heavy weight cast iron core, Enamel Cast Iron cookware is finished with a black matte enamel interior that is naturally stick resistant, which allows for easy cooking and cleanup. Exteriors are coated with richly colored red or blue enamel to create a one-of-a-kind finish. Subtle color variations and gradations add beauty and character that enhance the cookware’s unique appearance.

The collection is dishwasher safe, as well as oven and broiler safe. Dutch Ovens feature self-basting lids with evenly-spaced interior points that allow condensation droplets to collect and then drop down onto food for even and continuous basting.

Simply Calphalon Enamel Cast Iron cookware is available in the following open stock pieces:
5 quart Dutch Oven, 7 quart Dutch Oven, 10
inch Skillet, 9 inch by 13 inch Rectangular Baker, and 11 inch Grill Pan & Press, with suggested retail prices ranging from $49 to $129. Simply Calphalon Enamel Cast Iron cookware is available online at calphalon.com or in store at JCPenney.
