"Thanksgiving is quite possibly my favorite holiday. How could it not be with all of the amazing food? It's the culmination of Fall, featuring all of the best flavors in one over the top meal. I'm hungry thinking about it all. Thanksgiving wouldn't be the same without the the turkey and fixings, but I'm always most excited for the desserts, especially apple pie. I can't help it, I have a huge sweet tooth. When you think you're full, there's always room for pie.
Many holiday traditions seem to be passed down through the generations and with those traditions are often fond memories. The yearly tradition of getting up bright and early to watch the parade or fighting over the wishbone. When I was little, I remember my mom saving the leftover turkey bones to make fresh soup. She'd toss a little of this and a little of that in the pot, or at least that's how it appeared to me at the time.
Soup not only brings back memories of Thanksgivings past but also of so many cold winter days. Coming in from playing outside in the snow or helping to shovel the driveway, to find a pot of simmering soup on the stove. It's one of those comforting dishes that is craved by so many for all of the same reasons. It's also the perfect way to enjoy Thanksgiving for just a little bit longer. I couldn't resist the urge to continue that tradition by creating my own homemade turkey soup."
