Like remembering names, knowing your guest's cocktail preference is an enviable trait for any hostess. Be prepared for a variety of libation making by taking stock of your liquor offerings before the holiday season gets underway – here is a list of spirits, mixes and barware sure to accommodate a multitude of tastes.

Liquors
Premium quality Scotch, Tequila, Vodka, Cognac, Rum, Gin, Brandy, an Aperitif, Dry Sherry, a fruit or nutty cordial like Framboise or Amaretto, and an anise-flavored liqueur like Ouzo or Sambuca.

Mixes
Juices and Purees: Beyond Cranberry, Tomato and Orange Juice, you can add any flavor you like, for example Blood Orange, Pear and Pomegranate.
